The Telangana Photographic Society (TPS) organised an exhibition at ICCR Art Gallery, Ravindra Bharathi over the weekend.

The Telangana Photographic Society (TPS) organised an exhibition at ICCR Art Gallery, Ravindra Bharathi over the weekend. Up to 41 photographers showcased their works at the show, which was held as a celebration of 177 years of the ‘World Photography Day’. The three-day expo concluded on Sunday.

Ananda Shankar Jayant, Indian Classical Dancer and T Chalapathi Rao, senior film actor inaugurated the exhibition. “It is a great honour for me to attend this exhibition,” said Shanker Jayant. “We print history and mythology in dance but photography creates great stories. We capture photos for recollecting our past moments. Memories are important for every person in their life. The TPS has been encouraging young photographers and their attempts will take photography to the next level,” she added.

One of the participants, landscape photographer Satyaprasad spoke about his works. “I’m a fine arts landscape photographer. I went to the Himalayas 25 times to capture its beauty. I travelled in Ladakh and Spiti Valley in Himachal and I captured the moments of nature. In this exhibition, I am showcasing my work ‘Near Darjeeling’. I captured it at Sikkim,” he said.

Another participant, Abhiram, who is a seventh grade student at Suchitra Academy said, “My grandfather inspired me to participate in this exhibition. When we were in Karnataka, I captured two monkeys there from the car window. In my second photo, we set up honey for a bear and I captured it when it came near to eat that honey.”

Encouraging budding photographers, actor Rao said, “Without photos there is no survival of print media. In China, an incident of people killed by using tankers came to light by a photo. We came from the age of black and white photos era and we like them only.”
