‘Gems of Nation Award’ presented to girl students

“Students must pursue education passionately to achieve great success,” said AK Khan, Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau. Khan was addressing the meritorious SSC students at the ‘Gens of the Nation Award’ function instituted by the Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust (HZCT) and Foundation for Education and Economic Development (FEED) on Sunday.

Khan advised the students to take courses in humanities, law, civil services, etc. besides engineering and medicine. He emphasised the importance of education for girls. Khan said that the State is working to provide all facilities for girls’ residential schools. “Over 7,000 have enrolled for the same,” he said.

He called upon the elders in the community to make use of the resources and free education provided by the State government in the newly established residential schools. “The government has committed Rs 5,200 crore to start these schools. It is paying at least Rs 36,000 to each elementary teacher and spending nearly Rs 80,000 on each student on education, infrastructure, clothing and accommodation,” he added.

Earlier, Khan distributed cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each to meritorious girl students who scored GPA over 9.3. Speaking on the occasion Ghiasuddin Babukhan, Chairman of HZCT said, “The trust has spent over Rs 100 crore benefitting 7,55,000 across Andhra, Telangana and Maharashtra States.”

Addressing the students, B Shafiullah, Managing Director, Minorities Finance Corporation advised the students to “inculcate self-confidence, moral values and personality development skills.”
