Shrishti Art Gallery in association with Goethe Zentrum and Alliance Francaise organised an art exhibition titled ‘Emerging Palettes’ exhibiting art works of young artists from all over the country who have completed their masters in art within the last four years. This exhibition has been curated by Veeranganakumari Solanki with guidance of senior artist Laxma Goud.
Artists Akhil Chandran, Anju Chandran, Bharat Dodiya, Mohammad Gous Pasha, Prabhakar Sahoo, Pradip Benarji, Pradeep Vadher, Prajith, Priyanka Das, Ragesh, Rajashree Nayak, Supriyo Manna and Vimal Ambaliya exhibited their works on this occasion. Akhil Chandran’s water colour works on paper have those soft tonal colours more looking like an amalgamation of interesting colours on paper.
Bharat Dodiya created a triptych wood cut work which has a finish of print on paper and the touch of fine grain print of any photograph. The Terracotta works of Prabhakar Sahoo and Pradip Benarji have the earthly look of freshness in nature, given the concrete jungle that the world is heading towards in this century.
Supriyo Manna’s works stand out distinct in the manner of usage of fabriano paper, wood and metal wire to create the three dimensional element. The etching and aquatint works of Rajashree Nayak have their own story to tell away from this modern world.
Curator Veeranganakumari Solanki feels that it is very important for young artists to bring in originality in their work and ideas. Veeranganakumari says, “There is no need for a young artist to try and be like someone already known in the art world. Young artists can draw references from the works of famous artists, but they should not try to copy them.
After all there is a capacity to grow in every individual and this ongoing potential must be put to use to the fullest possible extent. Of late, young artists make it a point to voice some element of concern through their works.
It could be ecological, political, a concern for change or a contemporary burning issue in society. This shows their involvement of being part of the society and progress towards collective living.” The exhibition is on view till September 20 at Shrishti Art Gallery, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
