The Road over Bridge (ROB) at Cherlapally railway gate could change the fortune of people and what was started with great enthusiasm has remained incomplete for nearly three years. “If the ROB is completed, industrial workers, students, daily wage labourers and thousands of travellers from nearby districts would be benefitted,” says Pandu, a resident of Cherlapally.
Cherlapally: The Road over Bridge (ROB) at Cherlapally railway gate could change the fortune of people and what was started with great enthusiasm has remained incomplete for nearly three years. “If the ROB is completed, industrial workers, students, daily wage labourers and thousands of travellers from nearby districts would be benefitted,” says Pandu, a resident of Cherlapally.
Highlights:
- ROB can change the face of Cherlapally
- Hundreds of workers who come from Bhongir and Ghatkesar would save money and time
- The Sunday vegetable market attracts thousands resulting in traffic jams, ROB could pave the way for free flow of traffic
- It could reduce the distance to Warangal highway by 10 kmc
- The foundation stone was laid on April 11, 2015 by the former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya
- Hundreds of lorries carrying gas cylinders and petrol tankers are presently forced to go to Mallapur, ROB would make it easier and save travel time
- Lack of coordination between GHMC and State government officials to bring funds from the central govt is resulting in delay
Hundreds of petrol tankers and lorries carrying gas cylinders now take a detour and move from Mallapur area resulting in loss of time and money. A representative of Hindustan Petroleum says, “If the ROB is completed, it could change the face of this area. Free flow of traffic would have a spill over effect as people would get more jobs and people coming from far off places would get back home faster.”
The foundation stone for the ROB was laid on April 11, 2015 by the then Union Minister for State for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatreya at Cherlapally railway gate but there has been hardly any progress. K V L N Rao, state spokesperson, Telugu Yuvatha Telangana says, “Three meetings with GHMC officials were held with the individuals whose land was to be acquired but there has been no progress.”
Unlike other projects, people are ready to part with their land but the lack of coordination between GHMC and other state government officials who need to get funds from the centre is hampering the pace of work, say locals.
There are hundreds of workers who come to the Cherlapally industrial area phase V from Bibinagar and Bhongir who would be benefitted immensely if the ROB is completed as it would reduce the distance to the Warangal highway by 10 km. Presently, people have to travel all the way to Ghatkesar to get onto the Warangal highway.
