Goshamahal: Residents of Hindi Nagar colony in Goshamahal are receiving contaminated water for months now. Bothered by the poor quality of water supply, the women from Hindi Nagar colony had also protested at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) office and have filed several grievances yet the quality of the water supply remains the same.

Drinking water is supplied by HMWS&SB on every alternative day for three hours between 5 to 8 am out of which two hours are committed to contaminated water which serves no purpose and can only be drained by the residents and only one hour of clean water is being supplied.

A resident of Hindi nagar colony Renuka Shukla said “The water supply is equivalent to sewerage water which smells pungent and is clearly visible. This water cannot be used for any purpose, if we pour this water to plants, even they might die. The water is affecting whole colony, we have infants at our home and this supply of water is not good for our health”.

Another resident from the colony said “We receive drainage and drinking water pipe for which we have filed several complaints to the water board officials but still water is not treated. Some people here have also complained about worms which were found floating in the water. We pay our bills for three hours of water supply out of which we only get one hour of water supply which is not sufficient during summer”.

Y Kishore, Quality Control officer of HMWS&SB Goshamahal division turns blind eyes towards situation and said he is not aware of the situation but promised that he will take stock of the situation.
