Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation holds the largest twitter account having 50,000 followers. GHMC is one of the largest Municipal Corporation in the country that is yielding good results in reaching citizens of the twin cities. GHMC joined twitter in the month of October 2015. Ever since the inception, GHMC is playing a vital role in reaching the citizens of Hyderabad bridging the gap between citizens and officials.

Currently GHMC is using two social media platforms to reach citizens, Twitter and Facebook. Moreover, they have also created a Whatsapp group named as “Twitter Grievances” which collaborates all Head of the departments, Zonal commissioners, Executive Engineers, Assistant Medical and Health Officers, Deputy Directors of Urban Biodiversity and Assistant Directors of Veterinary section and other officials. Until now GHMC have been tweeted 2,834 tweets on Twitter. H W Mayor’s twitter account @bonthurammohan is having 19,581 followers. Deputy Mayor twitter account babafasiuddin having 7,419 followers.

The Commissioner GHMC twitter account @CommissionrGHMC having 23,088 followers. GHMC is top in the country among all municipalities in using Twitter. In a recent meeting at GHMC, the Secretary Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) appreciated the social media team.

Posting all Twitter grievances in “Twitter Grievances” WhatsApp group as well as posting the same grievance in concerned subject related WhatsApp group and posting to the concerned officers also. Recording all twitter grievances posted in “Twitter Grievances” WhatsApp group in an excel sheet registering grievance in GHMC web portal and following up the grievance with the concerned officials.
