Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is taking up various steps to educate people on the importance of rain water harvesting. As part of these attempts, a programme ‘Grandparent-Grandchildren’ was organized to educate and emphasize on the importance of rain water pits in the residential places.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is taking up various steps to educate people on the importance of rain water harvesting. As part of these attempts, a programme ‘Grandparent-Grandchildren’ was organized to educate and emphasize on the importance of rain water pits in the residential places.

The workshop was addressed by the experts. Water Board managing director M Dana Kishore said that Water Clubs including grandparents and grandchildren would be formed. He said that the target was to form about 500 water clubs in the villages under the ORR area.

He further said that several achievements were possible through continuous struggle and suggested that people should work on conservation of water as a struggle or movement. He said that if people living in 23,700 apartments were educated on water conservation through rain water harvesting there would be a major change.
