Spend SC/ST welfare funds for development: Chilakamarri
SC and ST Commission member Chilakamarri Narsimha has called for proper utilization of funds allocated for the SCs and STS development and implementing development programmes in areas inhabited by them.
Vikarabad: SC and ST Commission member Chilakamarri Narsimha has called for proper utilization of funds allocated for the SCs and STS development and implementing development programmes in areas inhabited by them.
Participating in a programme held at Buranpur on Wednesday in connection with observing the Fundamental Rights Day, he said the commission on one hand reviews the government programmes and on the other, strives to render justice to them if injustice was done.
He expressed concern over efforts are on to repress the rights of the SCs and STs at some places. Nobody should regard the SCs and STs as inferiors. The commission will swing into action if injustice was done to the SCs and STs, he said assuring that the police machinery would lend its support to them.
Laying emphasis on education, local MLA B Sanjiva Rao said that villagers should become literate and strive to achieve top positions. The MLA congratulated the Commission members for having visited the region to enquire about the well-being of the SCs and STs. He suggested the villagers to find solution to their local problems.
Joint Collector Aruna Kumari wanted parents to bring up women as confident persons so that they will become reputed in society. Additional SP Narsimulu, DSP Sireesha, Tribal welfare officer Hanmanth Rao, SC welfare officer Sweta, superintendent Ravinder, Tahsildar Chinna Appala Naidu, MPDO Sattayya and others took part.
