As many as 2,000 students of a private engineering college on the outskirts of Hyderabad have been left in quandary as the college management had locked up the institution abruptly without any prior intimation
Muttangi: As many as 2,000 students of a private engineering college on the outskirts of Hyderabad have been left in quandary as the college management had locked up the institution abruptly without any prior intimation.
According to the students of RRS College of Engineering and Technology located at Muttangi in Patancheru mandal, their future is put at risk as the college was locked up by the management after the completion of two months of the current academic year.
No regular classes for nearly one year
The students alleged that the college failed to conduct classes for them for the last two months of the last academic year as it was unable to pay the salaries to the faculty. After complaints from the students and parents were lodged with the management, they managed to run irregular classes and finished the last year.
But, this year, we did not have any classes since the commencement of the current academic year, said one of the students of the college.
A mother of a third-year student of diploma in Engineering said, during the first year, the classes were run well. But during the second year, the faculty did not conduct any classes regularly as they were not paid by the management. The students have come to their third year of the course with several backlogs of second year due to lack of regular classes.
Now, after completion of two months this year, all of a sudden, the college is shut down by the management who are not present here. Students are in a state of distress and are worried of their future as they were left mid way with backlogs with due practicals.
We joined our son in management quota by paying lot of money. But now the college has put the lives of our kids at risk by locking up the college due to alleged financial crisis.
“We don’t know who are the management and the principal of the college now. We have been cheated by the management. They are playing with our lives by locking up the college in the mid-year, alleged a student.
Faculty were not paid their salaries
Another third year student said, whenever we complained at the faculty or principal of the college about the absence of running classes, they used to tell us that they were helpless due to lack of payment of their salaries.
The faculty or principal would be disappeared when we go to check out at the office after waiting for hour. We are terrified about our future. All the students are panic about their completion of their middle dropped courses just because of the scandalous management of the college, said the girl student.
The students and the parents said that they joined the college by paying large amounts of hard-earned money by their parents only by considering the name of the college. We are urging the government to interfere and make the management resume the classes for the sake of the future of the students, said a horrified student.
Students perusing conventional engineering courses can attend their examinations by preparing at their home or tuitions. But the diploma students cannot write their exams without practicals. We are requesting the management of the college to come and open the college to run the classes as usual for the students’ future.
Otherwise, our children will be pushed into a hopeless situation. The students will lose two years of valuable time if the college doesn’t not run for the next two years including practicals, said a parent.
The girl students are facing problems as even the toilets of the college have been locked. This is something treacherous done by the management. The management is not in a position to issue our certificates for now.
They are completely befuddled by this unexpected act, said the TNSF member Nizamuddin Baba who demanded immediate justice for the students. ZPTC Srikanth and several parents of the students along with the students were agitating at the college premises for the resume of the classes. Police reached the spot and overseeing the situation.
