It’s been just two months since the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched and the city has taken quite a liking to the mission. While many celebrities from the tinsel town and the sports world kicked off the campaign, many corporates have been giving a fillip to the project by cleaning various locations.

Satisfied by the response, State education minister G Jagadish Reddy announced that corporates will also construct toilets in government schools across Telangana under the Swachh Bharat campaign. Here are some of the areas which the corporates cleaned during the week

Inorbit Mall

Inorbit Mall, under its Inorbit Connect initiative, carried out the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan on Wednesday. Nitin Bir, center head, Inorbit Malls, Hyderabad, spearheaded the cleanliness drive. The cleanliness drive saw the participation of retail and mall staff of Inorbit Mall. They were equipped with all the utilities like broom, hand gloves and garbage bags to clean the mall surroundings.

Puneet Varma, GM, marketing and corporate communications, Inorbit Malls (India) Pvt. Ltd, said, “It is our responsibility to keep our surroundings and subsequently the country clean. I think it is a very apt issue that our country has so readily picked up and we intend to encourage it through this activity in all our malls across the country. We hope that people of Hyderabad will definitely be motivated by our participation and will strive to keep the city clean. It is not a mission of a day rather more of a message to imbibe a healthy new clean habit.”

Hafeezpet Railway Station

City-based facility management company Golden Star Facilities and Services Pvt Ltd, embarked on cleaning the Hafeezpet Railway Station. 250 employees cleaned the station and the road leading to it for nine hours. The company executed various sanitation related services in public places in Hyderabad. “We even plan to clean the ESI Hospital on December 7. We have given a letter of request to the concerned authorities,” Anita Verghese, MD of the company said.

Mahboobia Government Girls Junior College

Telecom operator Uninor, on its fifth anniversary, organised a cleanliness drive at Mahboobia Government Girls Junior College. The cleanliness drive involved representatives from Uninor cleaning the premises of the college. The corporate also undertook renovation of the toilets.

“Five years of successful operations is an important milestone for us. As a responsible corporate, we believe in giving back to the society. To mark our fifth anniversary, we have undertaken the cleanliness drive, in line with the government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. We hope that the drive contributes to providing students with cleaner school premises that are conducive for the learning,” said Satish Kumar Kannan, circle business head – Andhra Pradesh, Uninor.
