Hyderabad: The Telangana government is seriously planning to rechristen the prestigious State film awards - Nandi Awards – after some other important name related to Telangana. Cinematography and Commercial Taxes Minister T Srinivas Yadav on Monday said, “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on the issue and is scrutinising a few names and will come out with one that aptly suited our Telangana State.”
“The chief minister is all set to promote Telugu film industry in Telangana and he has convinced Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, who was here to receive Akkineni Nageswar Rao International Telugu Film Award, to offer all the help,” the Minister said. “Telugu film stars including former Union Minister Chiranjeevi and Akkineni Nagarjuna held talks with the chief minister and expressed happiness over his plans to promote and develop the film industry,” he said. Earlier the minister held a meeting with Telugu film producers, directors, artistes, and associations and assured them of all help to promote the industry.
