The demonstration had employees carrying placards and banners forcing the defaulter to pay immediately, failing which the bank would be forced to take further action. Gunpati had availed a loan of Rs 5.19 crore in the name of The Great India Mining Pvt. Ltd located at Jubilee Hills, and defaulted to pay monthly installments. The account was later categorised as a NPA.

Nagaraju, assistant general secretary, Andhra Bank Award Staff Employees Union, Secunderabad zone, said, “We are conducting the recovery drives against recalcitrant borrowers who are not paying the EMIs in terms of the sanction advise which has piled up into huge arrears. We are targeting more such high value defaulters to recover our dues and to reduce the level of NPAs.” M Surya Narayan, assistant general manager, Kapra Sainikpuri branch; B Rajesh Babu, chief manager, zonal office, along with 30 branch staff members and recovery officers took part in the protest.
