Hindus are suggesting California’s City of Pomona to erect Lord Ganesha statue in its Ganesha Park and Pomona Unified School District to include Ganesha image in its Ganesha High School’s emblem.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, said that presence of Lord Ganesha might prove auspicious for the City and School District; as in Hinduism, Lord Ganesha was worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and was invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, indicated that Lord Ganesha statue and emblem would fit well with the spirit of Pomona, which was named in honor of the Roman goddess of fruit. Moreover, Pomona also reportedly has a street called Ganesha Place, a neighborhood named Ganesha Hills and a walk-route called Ganesha Hills Loop.

About 60 acres Pomona’s oldest Ganesha Park has a pool and about 250 year old redwood tree grove in the City of Pomona, incorporated 1888 and whose tagline is “Vibrant, Safe and Beautiful” and Mayor Elliott Rothman.

In its 55th year, Ganesha High School’s vision includes creating "Socially Responsible Citizens". Part of Pomona Unified School District; whose tagline is "Respect, Relationships, Responsibility, & Results" and Superintendent Richard Martinez; it has a Bible Club, a Fashion Club and a Dance Team and Spanish represents the largest language group in it. Located in northwestern Pomona, its about 1,140 students come from Pomona and Walnut, 92% of whom are Hispanic. Jennifer Francev is the Principal and its “dress code violations” include bare midriffs, underwear worn as outerwear, spaghetti strap tops, etc.
