Kadapa: Heavy rain lashed parts of the Kadapa and Anantapur districts for the second day on Thursday under the influence of depression in the Bay. The body of one victim who was washed away in floods on Wednesday in Kadapa district was retrieved. Kadapa experienced incessant rain throughout the day. Many low-lying areas were inundated. The water level in the Penna rose as the Kundu and other rivulets were in spate. Sixteen tanks were breached. Proddatur, Sambepally, Chinamandem and Chapadu received highest rainfall of 21, 17, 16 and 15 cm respectively. Water schemes were damaged in Erraguntla, Muddanuru, Potladurthi. Officials set up three call centres to expedite flood relief.

Partial crop damage was reported in 2,350 acres and 359 houses. There was heavy rain in Anantapur after a long gap. Penna and Chitravati rivers received good inflows. Penugonda division received highest rainfall of 178 mm. Barring Tadipatri, Peddapappur, Yellanur, Yadiki, Peddavadagur and Putlur all mandals received rain. Standing crops were damaged in Kothacheruvu, Puttaparthi and Penugonda madals. Two transformers, 10 pumpsets and 68 electricity poles were washed away in Kothacheruvu mandal.
