subplanKarimnagar: Social Welfare Minister Pithani Satyanarayana said the State Government had enacted the SC, ST Sub-Plan aimed at developing the SC and ST communities. Speaking at 'Indiramma Kalalu' programme at Yerapalli village of Shankarapatnam mandal in Karimnagar district on Tuesday, the Minister said the State Government had allocated Rs 12,351 crores for SCs and STs under the SC, ST Sub-Plan for 2013-14 and had also decided to take up massive development activities in their residential areas. With the funds of SC, ST Sub-Plan, CC roads will be laid. Drainages and community halls are constructed in SC and ST colonies. Similarly, drinking water supply and other facilities will be provided to all the colonies in the State, he disclosed. The Minister further said that the State Government was providing scholarships up to Rs 10 lakh for those students who want to go abroad for pursuing the higher studies and it also decided to sanction four welfare hostels additionally to each district in the State. On the occasion, Mr. Pithani Satyanarayana distributed the loan cheques worth Rs 2.38 crore to women. Minister D Sridhar Babu, who was present at the meeting, said that under SC,ST Sub-Plan, the Government would provide employment to the youth belonging to SC and ST communities and would also extend other benefits to them. Social Welfare Department Commissioner Udaya Laxmi, District Collector Smita Sabharwal, MLC Santhosh Kumar, District Co-operative Central Bank president Konduri Ravinder Rao, Vemulawada temple Chairman Bomma Venkateshwarlu and other officials were present.
