Karimnagar: MP Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated a medical camp for the benefit of weavers and textile workers in Sircilla town of Karimnagar district on Thursday. District Collector M Veera Brahmaiah, District Central Cooperative Bank president Konduri Ravinder Rao and weavers’ associations leaders participated in the programme and addressed the weavers. Members of Indian Medical Association (IMA), doctors working in the government and private hospitals in the town and surrounding areas examined the patients and provided medicines to the needy patients.

Handloom weavers, power loom weavers and other workers participated in the medical camp along with their family members and were examined by the doctors. Later, the Collector flagged off a rally of folk artistes. The rally was aimed to bring awareness among weavers not to commit suicide. Mr Ponnam Prabhakar advised the weavers not to resort to end lives for some problem or the other. The weavers have to bring to the notice of the officials about their problems and the officials would try to solve the problems, he said.

The Collector said that weavers and other workers have been facing several financial hardships. Individuals cannot solve their problems by ending their lives, he said.
