Make Nalgonda town open defecation-free by Nov-end, officials told
Addressing media persons in his chamber at Nalgonda Municipality Office, Satyanarayana Reddy reminded that Nalgonda Municipality in order to achieve the honour of open defecation free tag declared by the Union Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), every house in the Municipality should have toilets. Hence, we have to achieve the target by end of this month.
Nalgonda: The Joint Collector and in-charge Commissioner of Nalgonda Municipality C Satyanarayana Reddy has directed the officials to take measures to make Nalgonda town open defecation free by November end.
Addressing media persons in his chamber at Nalgonda Municipality Office, Satyanarayana Reddy reminded that Nalgonda Municipality in order to achieve the honour of open defecation free tag declared by the Union Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), every house in the Municipality should have toilets. Hence, we have to achieve the target by end of this month.
From December, penalties would be slapped on those who would resort to open defecation in the streets and residential areas. Reminding that the government was extending Rs 12,000 to the Below Poverty Line families for construction of toilets, Reddy asked people to consult the Assistant Engineers of Public Health wing of the Municipality to avail the facility.
He suggested the officials concerned to bring to his notice if non-availability of sand arouse during construction of toilets.He has also warned that stringent action would be taken against those who would take up constructions without municipality permission.
If drainage pipe was damaged in digging work by any private organisation or individual, penalty equal amount of the damage would be collected from them, he added.
NO RATION TO THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE INDIVIDUAL TOILETS.On the other hand, District Civil Supplies Officer Uday Kumar announced that ration would be stopped to the card holders who don’t have individual toilets in Nalgonda Municipality from the next month.
Speaking at a meeting of ration shop dealers, Uday Kumar asked the dealers to inform the matter to the card holders allotted to their fair price shops. Action would be taken against the dealers who would violate the decision, he cautioned.
