Warangal: The World Peace Festival Society International (WPFSI) has announced Shanti Dootha awards, 2016. The awards have been constituted in 1997 by the society to celebrate pluralistic character of Indian nation and peoples’ poet Padma Vibhushan late Kaloji Narayana Rao, Telangana ideologue late K Jayashanker and others were involved in the formation of the society.

The awards aim at promoting and spreading of love and harmony by honouring people from different fields in recognition of their services to the society, informed the society founder Mohammed Sirajuddin and its president Ampasayya Naveen.

Sirajuddin told The Hans India that the awards section committee has chosen Sahrudaya Old Home organiser Yakub Bi for Warangal Shanti Dootha award, noted film director and actor K Vishwanath for AP Shanti Dootha award, noted historian Lingala Panduranga Reddy for Telangana Shanti Dootha award and a doctor from the US Thota Ravider for NRI Shanti Dootha award.

The awards presentation ceremony would be held on February 28 at Royal Gardens in Hanamkonda. Award to Dr Ravinder would be presented in a separate programme to be held in August.

In the past, noted film maker B Narsinga Rao, senior journalists K Ramachadra Murthy and Potturi Venkateshwar Rao, noted educationist Chukka Ramaiah, mimicry artist Nerella Venu Madhav and TJAC chairman M Kodandaram were honoured.
