Nalgonda: After witnessing the plight of farmers at the agricultural market yard in Nalgonda in getting food, the Komatireddy Prateek Foundation on October 28 has started the free lunch programme for ryots who visit the market. About 200 to 250 farmers and workers are availing the benefit every day.
Speaking to The Hans India, Chairman of the Foundation and Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy informed that it was a great opportunity to feed the farmers who had been providing food to the whole society. He said the programme would continue till the farmers sell their produce at the markets and would be also be taken up in future whenever the need arises.
Demanding the State government to provide free lunch to farmers in all agriculture markets, Komati sought the government to ignore moisture content and pay Minimum Support Price to paddy and cotton and bail out the growers. Meanwhile, farmers Narasimha of Narsingbatla, Ramulu of Dandempally of Nalgonda mandal along with other farmers thanked the Foundation for its noble gesture.
