As part of this, District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini has directed the officials concerned to prepare a detailed plan for the mega plantation drive and directed to grow at least 18 lakh saplings in all the nurseries across the district.

The Collector, while reviewing the implementation of Haritha Haaram in the district said, “By next year, apart from distributing at least 10 plants to each household and planting 5 lakh toddy plants across the district, at least 13 lakh saplings should be planted in Gadwal and Alampur constituencies.”

The Collector further reiterated the importance of protection of plants and directed the officials concerned to entrust responsibility of protecting plants to women groups, Field Assistants and Panchayati Secretaries. He said in each village, the officials must maintain a notebook to record the number of plants being planted and name of the person taking the responsibility of protecting them. “Merely planting trees is not over, protecting the plants is very important.

For this, we have asked the officials to record the details of number plants being planted in each village, and also note the name of the person taking responsibility of safeguarding the plants,” he said.For knowing the status of plants, the Collector has directed officials to conduct review meeting with the women groups and persons taking responsibity of the plant twice a month and asked them to submit status report to the government from time to time.

While interacting with district officials and MPDOs, the Collector charted out plans and set goals for next year’s Haritha Haaram.
