Kothagudem: Adivasis cutting across their associations staged protest in front of the Tribal Welfare Residential School for Girls at Yelsireddypalli village of Pinapaka mandal here on Monday demanding that Lambada teachers employed in the school go back to the plains.

Yedulla Bayyaram Circle Inspector Vijay Paul immediately rushed to the place and pacified the agitating Adivasis. Teachers’ association leaders also reached the place. The teachers heaved a sigh of relief as the police took steps to pacify the demonstrators giving no room for escalation of tensions.

In another incident, Adivasi leaders prevented a doctor belonging to the Lambada community employed at a PHC in Narsapuram in Dummugudem mandal from discharging his duty. They staged a sit-in in front of the PHC demanding removal of the Lambada community from the list of the STs.
