The Minister was addressing in the meeting held after laying foundation stone for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at Singannagudem in Bhongir municipal limits with an estimated cost of Rs 2 crores.

Bhongir: The State government had spent Rs 17,465 crores for the welfare of Dalits in the State during the last three-and-half years, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy observed here on Friday. The Minister was addressing in the meeting held after laying foundation stone for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at Singannagudem in Bhongir municipal limits with an estimated cost of Rs 2 crores.

He said that the building was planned to propagate Ambedkar’s ideologies and added that the people of all sections should visit Ambedkar Bhavan to build a healthy society. Telangana is the only State that had been spending Rs 40 crores for welfare sector in the country, he stated.

He advised Dalits to excel in studies to acquire good positions in the society. “As many as 500 residential schools were started for the welfare of SC students to impart quality education on par with corporate schools. The government is planning to set up 30-women degree colleges soon,” he informed. He informed that as many as Rs 5 crores were already sanctioned for the construction of Ambedkar buildings across the Yadadri district.

Bhongir MLA Shekar Reddy who presided over the function, said that seeking inspiration from Dr B R Ambedkar, K Chandrashekar Rao fought for 10 years and fulfilled the dreams of people of Telangana. “Under KCR’s vision and proper planning, the newly-formed Telangana State showed rapid growth and stood top in the country in a short span of three-and-half years. People are happy with 24-hours power supply in the State,” he said He thanked CM KCR and Minister Jagadish Reddy for extending their co-operation for the development of Yadadri district in all aspects.
