Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar and Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal felicitated two brave fishermen besides handing over a reward for saving the lives of four members, including two children, who slipped into Palair reservoir, here in Khammam on Wednesday.

According to Commissioner of Police, two women, residents of Konijerla mandal, along with their children went to Palair reservoir park for picnic last Sunday. When they were enjoying boating, two of their children slipped into waters. Soon the women also jumped into the reservoir to save their children.

Battula Naga Raju and Uppalaiah, the two fishermen, who saw them drowning jumped into the waters and saved them. Appreciating their brave efforts, the District Collector and Commissioner of Police felicitated the two fishermen besides handing over a reward.

Additional DCP K Suresh Kumar and Rural ACP Naresh Reddy, Circle Inspector Thirupathi Reddy and Kusumanchi mandal sub-inspector Raghu took part in the felicitation programme.
