Khammam: The main aim of the State government is to construct double bedroom houses for all homeless poor of the State, said Roads and buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao here on Thursday. The Minister laid foundation stone for the construction of academic block in Kasturba Gandhi Girls High School, which is to come up at a cost of Rs 2.05 crore, here at Gattusingaram village of Kusumanchi mandal, besides laying foundation stone for laying of CC roads in Jakkapalli village at Perikasingaram in Khammam on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Tummala said for the welfare of people and to uplift downtrodden, the State government has been introducing several schemes and directing the officials to implement them perfectly. After interacting with villagers of Jakkapalli, the Minister sanctioned funds for the development of drains, roads and installation of electricity polls and for other basic facilities.

The Minister appreciated a Jakkapalli farmer, Srinivas Reddy, for allotting one acre for the construction of double bedroom houses and ordered the officials to take necessary steps for acquiring one more acre of land to start construction of 2BHKs.

Funds will be allotted for the construction of two check dams in coming up budget besides funds for laying of roads from Jakkapalli to Mallepalli and other from Jakkapalli to Chennaram village, assured the Minister. Proposals will be sent to the government to identify SC Colony as separate village panchayat. If place allotted, steps will be taken for the construction of SC Community Hall also, said the Minister.

Later, Tummala handed over Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to the beneficiaries of Perikasingaram village. Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Kavitha, Chairman of the State Seed Development Corporation K Koteshwar Rao, DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, Nelakondapalli Market Chairman S Ramesh, ZP CEO M Nagesh, ATMA Chairman M Yella Reddy, Chairman of Farmer Coordination Committee J Ravi Kumar, CDC Chairman J Gopal Rao and MPP Ramsahayam Venkat Reddy were present along with others.
