Khammam: CPM party corporator 43rd Division Shailaja demanded the government to withdraw the decision of demolition of houses in Vaddera Colony and grain market here in Khammam on Friday.

Speaking to media persons, Shailaja alleged that about 100 families have been residing in Vaddera Colony for the past 30 years. Many of them were daily wage labourers and struggling to make ends meet. They appealed to the government on several occasions to issue pattas.

“But recently, some of the revenue officials who visited the Colony asked the locals to vacate their houses warning them of demolition of their houses. Instead of issuing pattas to them, the government is trying to grab the lands of poor,” she alleged.

Without issuing notices and showing any alternative place, asking them to vacate their houses by threatening them was not justifiable. The government must either withdraw the decision or must show an alternative to Colony residents, she demanded. If the government failed to take any action in this regard, a movement would be launched, she warned.
