Kothagudem: District backward classes welfare department has organised the 192nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on a grand note in Kothagudem on Wednesday.
Local MLA J Venkat Rao garlanded the Phule portrait and paid tributes. Later speaking on the occasion, he said Phule had strived hard to root out illiteracy, superstitions and discriminiation in the society.
In Bhadrachalam, Integrated Tribal Development Agency Office has organised the the birth celebrations. The unit officers paid tributes to the leader.
District revenue officer Kiran Kumar, ITDA unit officer Bhem Rao and others participated in the programme.
