Khammam: Congress party State Minority Cell convenor Md Fazal here on Wednesday alleged that the Gurukul Residential Schools in the erstwhile Khammam district lacked basic facilities.

Speaking to the media at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan here, Md Fazal alleged that there are no basic facilities in all the six Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Minority Gurukul Residential schools.

The Gurukul Schools have been established in rented buildings with no proper facilities and regular staff. The schools are run under the supervision of temporary staff comprising retired and outsourcing employees. Teachers are working on contractual basis, he alleged.

There are no proper playgrounds, drinking water facilities and toilets. The officials of Education Department are not interested in providing basic facilities in the schools, he said.

He demanded that the State government provide all basic facilities in Gurukul Residential schools. District Congress party Minority Cell leaders Md Isaac and Farooq Rabbani were present.
