Kurnool : Employees of Indira Kranti Padham (IKP) staged dharna before the Collectorate here on Wednesday demanding reasonable enhancement of their wages.
The striking employees said that they had been working like soldiers to take all the welfare programmes introduced by the State government to the rural areas. They deplored the attitude of the government for not taking into consideration their plight.
They demanded regularization of the services of the 6,500 employees working in the IKP at various levels apart from enhancing their salaries.A CPM leader Prabhakar Reddy expressing solidarity with the striking Indira Kranti Padham employees, said that the people's representatives enhance their emoluments and perquisites but never care for the employees, workers and their salaries.
He thanked the employees for their selfless service to the people though the government was not thinking about them. He said that justice should be done to the six lakh contract employees throughout the State who have working like IKP employees.
He said that the CPM would fought along with them till justice was done to them.
