Kurnool: District Collector Sudarsan Reddy instructed the officials of Transco to ensure power supply to the drinking water schemes to solve drinking water problem in the district. The Collector presided over the weekly review meeting over the function of the drinking water schemes and bore wells in the district. Irrigation SE Sudhakar, RWS SE RaviBabu, DPO Sobha Swaroopa Rani, ZP Dy CEO Jayarami Reddy and others were present. The collector said that he would visit the drinking water schemes and summer storage tanks throughout the district for three days.A He instructed the Des of RWS to visit each and every village to solve problems if any. He instructed the municipal officials to supply water every day in the municipalities of Kurnool, Adoni and Nandyala. He instructed the Transco officials to solve the power supply problem immediately. He also instructed the officials to release funds meant for drinking water schemes to the RWS executive engineers before the funds got lapsed. The collector said that the water was being released from Gajuladinne project and they had to make sure there was no water problem in the municipalities. District panchayat officer Sobha Swaroopa Rani informed the collector that though there had been clear instructions not to disconnect electricity to the minor and major panchayats if they did not pay bills regarding the drinking water schemes, at several places, the electricity supply was being disconnected. The collector instructed the Transco officials to look into the matter. He said that the water from Tungabhadra dam would be released from April 20 to May 10 and the officials could refill the empty tanks to use the water till the end of June. RWS Des, officials of zilla parishad, irrigation, Transco Panchayat departments were also present.
