Asking Irrigation Minister K Harish Rao to stop misleading the public with the allegations that Congress was the reason behind the stalling of irrigation projects and creating hurdles for the development of the state, party treasurer Gudur Narayan Reddy on Tuesday said that it was not fair on the part of the Minister and other TRS leaders to blame Congress.

Calling Congress to be pro-farmer and pro-development, he cited his own example of having come forward to give 25 acres of his land for an irrigation project being executed by the KCR-led TRS government and that he convinced villagers of Baswapur to give 500 acres for the Baswapur reservoir project which is a part of Kaleshwaram project.

He further said that the party wants adequate compensation paid to farmers for acquisition of their lands as per Land Acquisition Compensation Act.

The Congress leader also alleged that a 1,000 crore scam has hit Palamuru-Ranga Reddy irrigation project and urged Harish Rao to publish a white paper on the finances being mobilised irrigation projects.
