A local court in Nampally convicted two persons, 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for their involvement in trafficking children and pressing them into child labour.

The accused, Mohammed Imtiyaz, a resident of Nalanda district in Bihar and Munna, who is into bangle making business under Bhavani Nagar police station limits, were nabbed for trafficking minors from Bihar.

According to the police, the duo made the minors work in hazardous conditions in bangle making units in 2016. Searches were conducted in various parts of the Old City where 216 boys were rescued and 43 cases were registered.

Two separate cases were registered against the accused and police filed charge sheets in the respective cases. Munna was declared an accused in both the cases and the Court on Wednesday awarded him 14 years of imprisonment in regard to both the offences.
