CHENNAI: The Regional Meteorological Centre forecasted partly cloudy skies and a maximum temperature of 36°C. Officials said there is a possibility of moderate rain or thundershower on Tuesday in the city.
On Sunday morning, the humidity was in the range of 64% and touched its peak of 67% by evening. The night temperature touched 29.6°C and has been showing an upward trend. “The severity of the temperature was high between noon and 4pm on Saturday. However, the daytime temperature graph for Sunday shows that the temperature was lower than the previous day,” a Met department official said.
The temperature during the day was around 36°C every day for the past five days and high humidity has made the heat too difficult to bear in the noon.
On Saturday, the temperature crossed 35°C between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM but on Sunday it crossed the 35°C only after 2:30 PM. The Met office recorded zero rainfall in Chennai on Saturday and Sunday.
