Since 1988, every year December 1 is being celebrated as the World Aids Day. It is being celebrated every year with new slogan. It was ‘inform’ in 1988, ‘youth’ in 1989, in1990 it was ‘women-aids disease, role of men in aids control, in 2017 it was ‘my health-my right’ and this year it is ‘know yourself’.

But sorry to say that despite intensive campaigns against the dreaded disease, still on average 241 people per day are added to HIV cases. However, anti retro viral therapy brought out a revolutionary change in Aids treatment as it made HIV positive victims to lead their lives like the people who are suffering from diabetes, malaria, hyper tension etc with regular use of ART.

People especially who have been suffering from fatigue, headache, vomiting, weight loss, motions etc are prone to HIV. So they must undergo Elisa test to know whether they are HIV positive or not. Even Telugu speaking States must be on alert as 35 percent of sex related cases are being reported from these States.

In this connection, all HIV positive patients must get inspiration from a German, Timothy Ray Brown who proved that with available medical knowledge one can win the dreaded disease completely.

So, with safe sex, one can keep away from the HIV and with regular medication one can extend one’s life span. At the same time, medical fraternity must strive their best to make the treatment within the reach of the poorest of the poor.
