Reduce burden of school bags now

The central government's advice to all state governments to lessen the burden of school bags for school going children and do away completely with homework for children studying first and second classes is praiseworthy. The state governments should follow the sensitive and wise advice immediately. The weight of the school bag is more than the weight of the ward usually.

The child with tender shoulders and weak spine has to bear the weight and go to school, as if it's a part of punishment to him, for no fault of his. Now, the existing system has been stealing all the enthusiasm, creativity and spirit of a child in the name of modern education. The elements of morals, ethics, arts and creative skills that help one's overall development are gradually missing in primary education.
