jk Jammu (PTI): Slamming the Jammu and Kashmir government for "disarming" the police and CRPF in Kashmir valley and making them "targets" to terror attacks, Opposition parties on Thursday staged a walkout over the killing of five CRPF personnel by militants in Srinagar. As the House began proceedings, opposition BJP, JKNPP and JSM stood up from their benches and sought the decision of Deputy Speaker Sartaj Madni over their adjournment motion for discussion over the grave situation arising due to militant attacks on unarmed security personnel in the valley. Madni, who was in the chair, rejected the adjournment motion maintaining that Speaker Mubarak Gul had condemned the incident, along with the government.A On this, the opposition parties of BJP, JKNPP, JSM resorted to protests and asked if the issue of Afzal Guru could be discussed in the House, then why not the martyrs of CRPF and the police force. The Opposition resorted to sloganeering for some time as they also demanded the resignation of the government.
Curfew imposed on Srinagar
Srinagar (PTI): A curfew was today imposed in Srinagar district following the death of a youth in CRPF firing in Zoonimar area of the city. Curfew has been imposed in Srinagar district after Wednesday midnight, District Magistrate Srinagar Baseer Ahmad Khan said. A 22-year-old youth was killed on Wednesday when CRPF personnel allegedly opened fire after coming under attack by a group of stone pelters in the Zoonimar area. The vehicle of CRPF personnel was on its way to SKIMS hospital, where the victims of Bemina terror attack were admitted, when it came under attack, sources said. The sources said the CRPF personnel were heading for SKIMS hospital to donate blood for their colleagues injured in the terror attack. Two militants and five CRPF jawans were killed and 11 others � seven CRPF personnel and four civilians � were injured in the suicide attack on their camp at around 10.45 am on Wednesday.
