An Army Officer who has been accused of allegedly raping an Indian-origin doctor in New York during his posting in India's permanent mission to the UN has been ordered to face a CoI (Court of Inquiry).

According to sources, after completing a posting as the military attache at the Indian mission in New York for a couple of years, the Colonel recently returned to India.

The colonel is presently posted at the Army's College of Combat in MHOW (Madhya Pradesh) and has been facing the CoI presided by an officer of brigadier rank.

An official statement said that the officer had reportedly assured the complainant of marriage. It is learnt that the victim was allegedly raped by the colonel inside the mission in New York after giving her some sedative since she was opposed to any intimacy before marriage.

If the charges are found true during the CoI proceedings, certainly a disciplinary action will be initiated against the officer, added the Army sources.

The woman stated that the colonel has broken contact with her once he returned to India. She has saved evidence like text messages, letters and emails sent to her by the officer. She has also written to the Prime Minister, defence minister, Army chief and others concerning the injustice caused to her.
