Meerut: In a shocking and gruesome incident in Baghpat, three hospital staff, including a nurse flushed a newborn baby into a toilet to cover up their negligence at a district hospital.

Khushboo, a pregnant woman, who went to toilet to relieve herself, gave birth to a baby which accidentally fell into toilet.

When Shahrukh, her husband heard some noise in the toilet, he asked the nurse staff to check.

According to a report, instead of informing about the baby to the parents, the staff asked Shahrukh to bring an iron road by which they pushed and flushed the baby into the toilet.

The hospital staff also lied to the man that his wife did not deliver the baby.

The incident came to light next day when the sweeper entered the toilet to clean it and saw body of the trapped baby. Later, the dead body of the baby was taken out.

The district administration has ordered a magisterial probe into the matter.

"I got a complaint in which it was alleged that the baby of a woman was flushed down a toilet after she suffered miscarriage at the district hospital here. I have ordered a magisterial probe into the matter and sought the report within a week," District Magistrate Dhanlakshmi said.

Khushboo, who was admitted to the hospital for fever, suffered miscarriage on Tuesday night due to the hospital staff's "negligence", following which they "flushed the baby down the toilet", according to the complaint filed by the woman's husband Shahrukh, a truck driver from Niwada village.

The district hospital's Chief Medical Superintendent, B L Khushwaha, denied the charges and said that the family was making false allegations against the hospital staff.
