Cop on duty caught drinking, playing cards

A traffic police SI was caught playing cards during duty hours in a police booth in Chromepet, Chennai on Monday night. By the next morning, the picture of the SI M. Jayavel in uniform playing cards with an empty bottle of alcohol on his side posing for a photo went viral on Whatsapp in police and journalists' group.

A senior police officer stated that an inquiry has been ordered into the alleged incident. The picture indicated that it was taken by another policeman who was present at the booth while Jayavel was busy playing. Police sources inform that the card games seemed to be a usual practice for the SI and his associates while the picture might have been shared through Whatsapp after a possible tussle with one of his colleagues.
