Diggy asks TPCC to pull up socks, emulate APCC. Throwing a wet blanket on Congress leaders from Telangana, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh said the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) was taking up movements for the sake people though it was weak in that State, but the Telangana State Congress leaders were not up to the mark.
Hyderabad: Throwing a wet blanket on Congress leaders from Telangana, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh said the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) was taking up movements for the sake people though it was weak in that State, but the Telangana State Congress leaders were not up to the mark. He stressed the need to take more movements on behalf of people against the government as the main Opposition party in Telangana.
Participating as the chief guest in late Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s 94th birth anniversary here on Sunday, Digvijay Singh said the ensuing elections to Greater Hyderabad, Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations in Telangana were crucial for the Congress and the party had to take these elections as prestigious for the party’s victory. He opined that there was a need for the leaders and workers to work in tandem.
He said the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) had to work in coordination with the other political parties on delimitation of wards in Hyderabad city. He also alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were indulging in fights on trivial issues and provoking the people. Both PCCs had to fight against those Chief Ministers to strengthen the Congress party.
Stating that bifurcation of the State was not a small issue, Digvijay said there was no alternative to the Congress other than division of the State as all political parties agreed for the division of United Andhra Pradesh. He said the party leaders were working courageously in Andhra Pradesh though the party faced utter defeat in that State. He suggested that the party had to field its candidates in Andhra Pradesh, irrespective victory or defeat.
