Tamil actor Manorama dies of heart attack in Chennai

Veteran actor Manorama died of of cardiac arrest in Chennai late on Saturday. She was 78 and she is survived by her son and singer-actor Bhoopathy.
Veteran actor Manorama died of of cardiac arrest in Chennai late on Saturday. She was 78 and she is survived by her son and singer-actor Bhoopathy.
Manorama, popularly called as Aachi, was born on May 26, 1937. She started her career as a stage artiste and acted in more than 1,200 films and 1,000 plays. She set a Guinness record when she completed 1,000 films.
She also acted with five CMs including N T Rama Rao, MGR and J Jayalalithaa. She won several awards including the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for her performance in "Pudhiya Padhai". She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2002.
As news spread, several actors took to social networking sites to condole her death.
