Guwahati: Over 4700 children are still missing in Assam, who untraced since 2012.

The recently published report of Assam State Commission for Child Rights revealed that, since 2012 to the month of October in 2014, a total of 4754 child are still untraced in the state.

The commission said in its report that, the child missing incidents had increased in the Assam.

“The child labour rate in Assam is higher than national average. It is a very concern issue. The child labour rate in the state is 4.9% against the national average 4.5%,” Runumi Gogoi, the chairman of the commission said.

The report revealed that, the child marriage incidents increased in several districts of the state in past years.

“The child marriage rate in Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Dhubri district are higher against the national rate,” Gogoi said.

The state commission and UNICEF had jointly organized a state level seminar of child rights issue in Kaziranga on Saturday.
