This refers to your report ‘Lax research led to shortage of pulses’ (28th Oct). While it’s true that lack of research to increase the production to compensate the increased consumption has not taken place offset the shortage, the present governments both at the Centre and in States have not taken any concrete action to control the prices of not only pulses, but even other essentials. When BJP was in opposition, they used to take to the streets and now there is complete silence on their part excepting making noise against previous government and those who are eating non-vegetarian food.
