The verdict on Jayalalithaa-Sasikala issue, after 20 years of judicial process, calls for an immediate overhaul of our judicial system. A case of Rs 86 corruption case took 20 years for its final verdict.

Of course, there is still a chance for further appeal. Meantime, the person declared culprit ruled the state for years.

When a case of corruption to a tune of Rs 86 crore took 20 years, then how much time a case worth of thousands of crores will take for final judgement, in our country? A doubt arises as to why the Apex Court could find the time to release the verdict, only at a time when the political climate in Tamil Nadu was worsening day by day, after Jayalalithaa’s demise.

All these long episode calls for an immediate & thorough overhauling of our judicious process, so that expeditious process takes place, which in turn paves way for real governance, unlike in the present, where a culprit was allowed to rule due to delay in judicial process.

In the present circumstances, it needs to be construed as “Justice delayed is injustice caused to the society”.
