New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday said it will observe November 8, the first anniversary of the demonetisation of high value currency by the government, as "fraud day".

"On this day, we will stage nationwide protests against the wrong policies and the incorrect decision of demonetisation taken by the BJP-led central government," Delhi Rural Development Minister Gopal Rai told media here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on November 8 last year, in a surprise move.

Rai also said the party would organise a national conference on November 26 to celebrate the completion of its five years, as decided in the party's National Council Meeting on Thursday.

"Party members from across the country will assemble for this conference and there will be discussion on works undertaken by the party till now.

"We will talk on issues related to farmers who have been deceived by the Centre. Apart from this, there will be dialogue on the demonetisation and GST (Goods and Services Tax)," he said.

"These two decisions by the BJP government at the Centre have ruined the country's economy."
