Kolkata: Son chops up dead mother, stores body parts in refrigerator for three years
In a gruesome incident, a 46-year-old man chopped up his dead mother Bina’s body and stored the parts inside a giant refrigerator for three years.
In a gruesome incident, a 46-year-old man chopped up his dead mother Bina’s body and stored the parts inside a giant refrigerator for three years.
The incident which took place in Kolkata came to light after a tip-off from neighbours and a local news channel.
The man, Subhabrata Majumdar carved out his mother’s body after her death and stuffed the body parts inside a refrigerator, further sealing it up the ground-floor room with two air-conditioners. He continued to live with the body and his 89-year-old dad for almost three years.
After the police were tipped off, they raided the house and found a freezer with a body stuffed inside.
The cops questioned Subhabrata who revealed that he was certain his mother could be brought back to life while the ailing father, Gopal who knew of his son’s plans said that he “just went along” with his son.
The forensic team visited the residence later and picked up evidence, including chemicals like formalin that were used to preserve her body.
Subhabrata claimed that he took inspiration on this route after he and his mother watched a documentary on the subject on Discovery channel just before her death.
Neighbours stated that they were aware of Bina’s death but no one saw the body being brought back to the house and suspicions arose when huge air-conditioners were installed about one-and-a-half years ago.
A psycho-analysis of Subhabrata will be carried out by a team of psychiatrists and the cops will be questioning the doctor who issued the death certificate.
