A report by WHO stated that, one in five adults and four out of five kids do not get enough physical activity, which causes a cost of $54 billion in direct healthcare.

The UN report does not give the particular number of Indians but according to a report issued by ICMR, Indian Council of Medical Research, around 54.4% of Indians are physically inactive.

Of this high number, males are shown to be more active than females.

The high number might be cause of more time being spent at work and commuting to and fro.

In fact only 10% of the population participates in recreational physical activity.

According to WHO physical activity can be done in many different ways at work and home.
