Pawan Kalyan for quite some time was overshadowed by his more illustrious brother megastar Chiranjeevi. Everyone knew that Pawan didn't have it easy coming from a family of such popular actor. However it is to Pawan's credit that he proved his mettle by becoming a Power Star.
It all culminated in Pawan launching his own political outfit Janasena in style just like his brother Chiranjeevi's now extinct Prajarajyam. Pawan's debut political speech too was loaded with same power and intensity of that of Chiranjeevi when the latter had launched his Prajarajyam. Let's draw a comparison between the two debut speeches.
Chiranjeevi in 2008 in a mega manner announced Praja Rajyam launch in Tirupati with the slogan 'PREME LAKSHYAM SEVA E MARGAM.' He began with: "Who called me into politics? It was you people. What do you want?... It should be a rule by the people for the people." About his party, he said: "Prajarajyam will be a party of backward and weaker sections, farmers, labourers and women. We will fight for social justice which will take Andhra Pradesh towards economic development, prosperity and industrial development. It will make the state a Santosha Andhra Pradesh, Chirunavvulu Andhra Pradesh and Ananda Andhra Pradesh."
Chiru struck an emotional chord saying:
"Chiranjeevi is a Seedha Sadha (simple) person. I come from a lower middle-class family of a constable. If for some reason my father's salary would not come we had to go without food." He remembered his parents saying: "I still remember my mother walking miles - holding me while carrying a pot of water on her head," and added "From my childhood I have closely watched the suffering of my mother." Chiru was accompanied by two physically handicapped persons during the unveiling of party flag.
Pawan Kalyan too while launching his Janasena followed the same. He remembered his father saying 'My father was a Government officer. He made one mistake, and he was bullied by the police and even his own parents. That incident changed my life, and taught me to think about others." Speaking about his brother Chiranjeevi, he said: "Why will I be angry with my brother? He is like my father. I love Chiranjeevi, my brother so much. But today, because of the Congress High Command, we have to stand as rivals."
On why he entered politics he said: "Politics is nothing when compared to the love showered by my fans and supporters. But the way the state was divided made me upset. Since then, I have developed this anger against politics and politicians." Pawan lashed out at the Congress party with a call: "Congress hatao, Desh bacho, Jai Hind!"
While these are some similarities between Pawan Kalyan and Chiranjeevi's speeches, there are some stark differences.
While Chiranjeevi's PRP launch was a mega affair in open grounds, Pawan Kalyan's Janasena launch was just a press meet but made best use of technology for wider reach.
PRP launch saw many speakers address the gathering before Chiranjeevi spoke. However, during Jana Sena launch, Pawan was the sole speaker.
While Chiranjeevi confined himself to state politics, Pawan touched upon national politics. The actor did not spare even Pakistan and China to prove his general knowledge.
It has to be seen what difference he makes with his Jana Sena vis a vis Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam party which turned out to be a disaster.
