Celebrity MPs only show pieces?

The Union Government has honoured celebrities in respective professions by nominating them as MPs in Rajya Sabha so that they will contribute for the development of their profession. However, many wonder if the Government policy has paid any dividends till date.

This is because many celebrities after becoming MPs never turn up for Parliament sessions. Neither are they seen taking part in the proceedings of the House.

Forget about raising issues pertaining to people and country, they don't raise issues related to their particular profession too. They are content with enjoying the luxuries that come with the position and power and only when their laxity is questioned in the media, they appear for one or two days as a photo op.

They even come with lame excuses later making mockery of the Indian democracy. Celebrities turn just show pieces in Rajya Sabha. Otherwise how can one explain the absence of Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood diva Rekha and other stars like Hema Malini, Lata Mangeshkar, Govinda etc in Parliament? Only Shabana Azmi holds the best record as she has attended 113/170 sittings in Rajya sabha.

Next comes Javed Akthar, Dara Singh and Mrinal Singh. People feel if they cannot contribute or raise problems, they shouldn't insult the people and nation.
