A couple of days ago, I made a journey from Chandigarh to Kashmir. It was 7 pm and the atmosphere was eerie, I travelled through the busy market of Sector 17 in Chandigarh and compared the night life here and back in Kashmir. Kashmir is dark, quiet and silent place by 6 pm and here the situation is altogether a different one. People take a stroll through the lanes with their family members and enjoy the weekends at different food outlets.

We kept on walking and as luck would have it, my slippers battered and I had to search for a new one. For a moment, all the weird thoughts of travelling bare foot came to my mind, but luckily a shoe shop lay closeby.

I hurried to the place and my hunt for a new pair began. This is one of the difficult tasks for me, as I am not more of a shopaholic. Luckily a friend of mine assisted me and I managed to buy a cute pair of pink comfy slippers. My hunt ended and made my way to home. I was deeply exhausted and slept peacèfully that night. The next day, I was in my study when father directed me to follow him.

He headed to the shoe rack and showed me the same slippers. I narrowed my eyes for a pensive pondering and noticed an image of a girl on the slippers. my father and me exchanged looks and thought for a moment, do women deserve such a place? I stood quiet for the moment and my father did most of the talking blaming the oblivious system and people.
Woman who is the mother of humanity has become a salable commodity and they call it emancipation. This is not the way, women should be treated... stand and raise your voices.
