Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley came up with articulate defence on the three BJP members of JPC, who were Ministers in Vajpayee Government and linked to GoM on Telecom. When suggestions were made that these BJP leaders should recuse themselves, Arun Jaitley argued that it is a judicial expression and is not relevant in politics. It is a term used for judges opting out of a Bench when there is conflict of interest and is not applicable to JPC members. This has set the Congress tongues wagging. Rejecting the ethical values, the BJP is searching for clever political logic to justify whatever it says and does. Where are the ethics, asked a Congress leader? Not long ago, the BJP used the harshest language for A Raja. Now the BJP wants to put Raja on a high pedestal and sing paeans for him as someone speaking the Gospel Truth, which the JPC must accept. The BJP demanded the JPC, rejecting the PAC, which is headed by BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi. At that time, the Congress pointed out that the JPC will be headed by the ruling party which will also have majority. Now the BJP accuses the Congress of trying to use its brute majority to have its way and wants to reject the JPC Report. "The Boss is Always Right," remarked a Congress leader.
